Question 3 evalaution
Feedback
We gathered our feedback using feedback sheets for viewers to fill in with details and comments of our production. Issues raised were at times the lip syncing was out but was generally was commented as god and at times nearly perfect. Also the feedback showed that we need to add a few more transitions into the production and also slow the pace of the video down slightly. Apart from these 3 issues the video was commented as being good.
After the feedback I went on and changed some of the video to try and meet the feedback requirements of the audience, I added two transitions (fade in and fade out) at the beginning and the end of the video. I was unable to change the lip syncing and also we couldn’t change the pace of the video since it fitted with the story (which its self was fast paced).
After reading the audience feedback I agree with what has been said. We were commented on having good actors in the role (I was praised for my drama skills in my acting) and that our costume was appropriate for the actor and song. The audience said the video kept their attention and was told by 2 of the 3 feedbacks that it looked professional. Also the audience agreed that the performance fitted well with the mood and genre of the song. The main problems with this type of process are mainly getting all the filming and lip syncing done and edited correctly.

first question of the evaluation
In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? (question 1)
We made sure that the record label, that we designed as a group was on all three of our products, so that the audience know that it’s all part of the same record company. The video is set outside and at school/ home environments, this corresponds to the narrative of the video because it’s about somebody being bullied. We also use a doll of the front of the CD cover which links to the video as a doll is used to gain revenge. We chose a front that fitted and the conventions of the indie genre as the band because the band is indie. The lighting we’ve chosen is mainly natural light, but in a few senses we used lights just to put more definition of the main subject in the shots. We’ve kept the colour scheme of the video/website/ CD cover the same so it’s all relative to the genre and the bands image.
In the researching and planning stages of our project we have to take test shots of our video to see if they would work out. The tests included quick scenes of the bully and the things we we’re planning to have in our video but just at a basic level. We also took pictures of shots that we were unsure of, and had feedback from the pitch on. The feedback said that those shots would b complex and hard to do, so we took a few photo’s of those shots and blogged them to make them more easy understand and how as a group we’re planning to do them.

Advance Portfolio Critical Evaluation questions 2 and 4
2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Throughout our campaign the idea was behind the song that we chose, Darwin Deez “ Bad Bay”, and incorporated different things that you would expect of a bad day or if you looked at it, it would automatically make you think something bad is going to happen, which we integrated into our music video, CD cover and website to suit our target audience of Teenagers and young adults. For example in our music video the storyline is that a bully gets his comeuppance when a Geek gets a voodoo doll and throughout the whole video bad things happen to him. On our CD cover we used a picture of the voodoo doll used in the music video, making you think back to the video and what bad things the voodoo doll did, also using a kind of dissolved bright and dark background to it. On the website we thought of using a Dark black and blue cloud and lightening contrasting with the same image but in a dark grey for the middle of the website which gives it a scary, unusual and abnormal feel to it which fits in with a bad day theme.
Both our music video and CD cover portray a sense of weird, eerie and a scary feel off of it, a bad day e.g. in the music video there is the voodoo doll used to hurt and control the bully and on the CD cover is a scary up close picture of the doll, but also give a sense of humour to it to. For example some of the things that happen to the bully our portrayed in a very comical way e.g. his hand starts freaking out and he slaps his friend, which results in a chase which is funny, and also in the CD cover is a picture of the Geek smiling which is cheesy which makes it funny which targets our audience very well, giving a sense of weirdness but also humour. The main goal for the website is to portray what characteristics the artists have from the song that we did, that’s why we used a cool weird background, but then used bright colours for some of the headings and writing, which gives off the feel that the band is cool and weird but fun and happy.
4) How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
We used many media technologies in the creation of our production. We used media programmes such as I movie to edit the filming we did by cutting up clips and fitting them in time with the song and it helped use put together our video to look professional by also adding effects. We used I web to create our website, and also we used Photoshop which went towards our website and CD cover, getting different images and manipulating them to make them original and fit in with the overall images we wanted which was really fun to do. To research and plan our product firstly we had to look at the band and see what they were like and other existing music videos to give us a feel of what there personalities we like, so we used google to search for their own official website to get inspiration on what we wanted for our own website, and we used websites such as you tube to watch their other videos to learn what they were like and their style, for the clothes to the way they acted. Online media technology such as music sites like My space, You tube, and online social websites such as Facebook and Blogger give us the opportunity to distribute our music video worldwide, and also for free if we want so anyone can watch and enjoy our project, so our target audience of teenagers to young adults who may not necessarily be able to buy music can listen and watch it for free.

Lambs!
Here is one of the pictures i am using for a previous CD cover. It started as the picture on the left, and manipulated it and changed it to make it more interesting and fit in with the artist and the website.

website update
Here is an updated version of our website. I have added more pictures such as pictures for previous CD's that the band have done, a blog and more tour dates. This might change but this will be the basis of what our website will look like.
